I hope that you are experiencing an exciting and hopeful 2016 so far! January is a month of new beginnings, and I love that. It’s such a good feeling to get the Christmas decorations stored away…a completion of something….”D for Done”, as my good friend Paula would say. It’s very cathartic for me! You may have resolutions for the new year. If so, I wish you much success. I’ve made a few, both personal and business. The one that will be the toughest to stick with for me is GRATITUDE. I don’t know about you, but I find myself taking so many things for granted. SO MANY! I don’t remember seeing a redbird for a long time, then all of a sudden this past summer, I started seeing them in many places after a friend told me an inspirational story about redbirds. I was stunned by how beautiful they are (I didn’t even know there were redbirds around in summer, but found out they were Summer Tanagers). Then, no redbirds for a couple of months and I was sad. So…the other morning when I was rushing to get to a meeting in the cold, I realized I had gone into the wrong building. Bummer! I pulled my coat tight, walked back out of the building, and right there in the barren bush was a redbird, a beautiful Cardinal. I just stood there, grateful that I had gone to the wrong building and God had allowed me once again to see this beautiful bird…to me a symbol of God’s presence with me. If you’re having a tough day, or week, or even year….take a few moments to just breathe out all the things you are grateful for. You’ll be surprised, like me. And, keep your eyes open…you might even see a redbird!
happy new year,
